My Blog Turns One Year Old Today!

A year ago today I started this blog. I cannot believe that a whole year has gone by already. Believe me it does not seem that long ago that I started doing this. Seriously folks, where has all that time gone?

Thank YouI was very unsure about blogging when I started, but I’ve gained so much more confidence as time has gone on.

I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting me this year.

My thanks must also go again to Caftan Woman for encouraging me to give blogging a go in the first place.

I am very well aware that there are many, many film blogs out there which are far better than mine could ever hope to be. It really means so much to me that you all keep stopping by my blog.  Your comments, encouragement, feedback, support and likes mean more to me than you can know. I am so touched by your friendship and constant support. Thank you! x 🙂

I’ve been delighted to run into so many classic film fans through this blog. The passion I have long felt for classic era cinema no longer makes me feel as though I am in a minority. I am also happy to have been able to introduce some of you to classic films that you have never heard of before.

I’ve had a very busy first year blogging.

  • This year I have taken part in 26 blogathons! I have hosted 3 blogathons (and I have another being held tomorrow). You can view all my blogathon entries here
  • People from the following countries account for the largest numbers of visitors to my blog: UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Brazil, India and Spain.
  • I have gained 144 followers.
  • I have been accepted as a member of The Classic Movie Blog Association. Find out more about this group and get details of how to join here.

I very much enjoyed writing the following posts this year. I’m also quite proud of these posts too. I’d love you to have a read of them all.

      1. Thanks. I would say try again! Not sure why they wouldn’t accept you. Your blog is awesome and you do post about classic era films as well as later ones. Maybe do some more reviews for pre 60’s films (the classic era is considered to be Silent to the 60’s.)

There’s always the chance that the year you tried they had too many people asking to join and couldn’t take everyone on or something.

  2. Time sure flies. I’ve really enjoyed associating with you this year. Not only are you a great writer, you’re far too modest, in my eyes there aren’t many blogs that are on a par with yours. Here’s to the next 12 months!

  3. Happy Birthday to your blog. I’m afraid I forgot to send it a card this year, but I thought about it and it’s the thought that counts. Do you know how many posts you’ve written over the last year? It must be well over a hundred.

I’ve just finished my post for the blogathon tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing the other entries.

  4. Congratulations Maddy! You’re a fantastic writer with such a passion for classic film that it inspires and heartens us all. I always appreciate your support and your kind and reflective comments. I hope I am as successful as you with my own blog writing.

You’ve inspired me to try hosting a blogathon or two in the near future, as well. And perhaps we could do one together! Best regards and look forward to many more great articles! Paul from Silver Screen Classics

  5. Hi Maddy,

You’ve really been doing great work on your blog. It looks like you started it pretty much exactly when the old imdb boards shut down. Good idea. Took me another 10 months to get started, I had a hard time with it too.

26 blogathons is a lot to take part in! Wow. I have to get started on that.
Keep up the good work. 🙂

    1. Thanks so much! The boards shutting down was the kick I needed to finally get started on the blog. I had been considering setting it up for a few months before that.

Your blog is coming along so well. It is truly awesome. Have fun joining blogathons.

  6. Well done on the first year of blog, and may you keep it going for many more. This is an activity which can be extraordinarily rewarding and there are always new areas to explore and new opinions and views to absorb. I’ve spent over a decade at this now, although I do take a step back from time, and it’s been grand.
