This blogathon was not only a big success, but it was also so much fun this year and last, that I have decided to make it a yearly event. I will host this blogathon again next year. I do hope that you can all join me in celebrating Alfred Hitchcock and his films.
You can write about any of Hitchcock’s films. You can write about his TV series. You can write about Hitchcock himself, or about the actors and characters featured in his films and series.
You can write more than one entry if you wish to do so. I will accept two duplicates per film title. The blogathon will be held for two days on the 8th and 9th of February, 2019. Please post your entries on or before those dates.
Just let me know what you would like to write about in the comments section below. Check the participation list to see who is writing about what. Take one of the banners from below and pop it on your site somewhere to help promote the event. Have fun watching Hitchcock’s films and writing about them!

Maddie: As usual, great idea for a blogathon! I have an unusual request — may I write about Mel Brooks’ Hitchcock parody HIGH ANXIETY? I think it would be interesting to write about the humor of it as well as some of its missed opportunities for spoofery.

Would I be out to lunch to try to compare and contrast Strangers on a Train to Throw Momma from the Train? I only ask since you are allowing “High Anxiety”, but I don’t want to open up a can of worms if that’s stretching the point.

It’s fine by me. Never heard of Throw Momma From A Train, so am interested to see how they compare. Thanks for joining.

If you like Oscar worthy performances you should see Anne Ramsey as “Momma”. (She lost to Olympia Dukakis in “Moonstruck” but she was nominated.) The movie is a black comedy that was inspired by the Hitchcock movie, so it shouts for a double feature blog entry.

Hello! I would love to tackle a handful of his TV shows (a combination of Alfred Hitchcock Presents and The Alfred Hitchcock Hour)!
This would be a two-fold blog post. Not only would this cover some episodes that I will be viewing for the first time, but I would also throw in a bit about ones I have seen that stand as my favorites.
One that would be definitely included would be my official introduction to Hitchcock and classic film: “Lamb to the Slaughter'” (April 1958, Alfred Hitchcock Presents).
Please check out my website, katykostakis.com!
Thank you!

Hey Maddy . sorry going to have to change that choice again. Turns out in the New Hitchcock Presents Hitchcocks intro, which is colorised from the original is the only thing that links it with him, so dont feel it would be right to review this – so instead going with his original series with an episode called Lamb to the Slaughter from 1958.

Hi Maddy. I hope you are feeling a bit better.
Would you accept a post on the Kenneth More remake of The 39 Steps for this blogathon?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Hi Jay. I will if you compare that version to the Hitchcock version. If not will have to say no, as on it’s own the More one isn’t anything to do with Hitchcock.
Still not well I’m afraid. Hope all good with you.

Ah, but the remake does have a lot to do with Hitchcock. It’s virtually the same film, just made in a different style. I’ve taken the film on its own terms, but some comparison with the original is inevitable.
I’m going to publish it, probably on Tuesday, and then you can decide if you want to include it or not. It doesn’t matter that much if you don’t because I was writing it anyway, the timing is mostly a coincidence.
I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Hi Jay. I’ve read the review, and was going to comment, but I can’t seem to see the comment section anywhere on any of your posts for some reason. Brilliant review of a very fun film. I liked your comparisons between the two films and performances. Thanks for joining the blogathon.

The comment box had disappeared on some of the posts, but I’ve fixed it now. It’s probably because I was experimenting with changing themes. Thanks for pointing it out, as I hadn’t noticed.
I’ve always liked Kenneth More so I find the remake quite agreeable. But it’s funny just how different it is, despite using the same plot and structure as the Hitchcock film. The 2 films are almost exactly the same – and yet totally different!
