Announcing The Eleanor Parker Blogathon

I was pondering over who or what the subject of my next blogathon should be. I’ve finally decided that it’s high time I shone the spotlight on Eleanor Parker. She’s one of my favourite classic era actresses, and she sadly seems to have become a very underrated and little discussed actress, something which I think we need to rectify.

I was first introduced to Eleanor as a little girl when I watched The Sound Of Music for the first time. As I’ve grown older I’ve sought out more of her work. One of my favourite Eleanor Parker performances is as the feisty Lenore in Scaramouche

For this blogathon you can write about any of Eleanor’s films and performances. Tributes and articles are also very welcome. I will allow just two duplicates per film title, but no limit on favourite or best of lists. You can write more than one post if you wish to do so.

The Blogathon will take place on the 10th and 11th of October, 2020. Please have your posts ready on or before those dates. I’d appreciate it if you could let me know as soon as possible if you’re going to be late submitting your entry, or if something happens and you can no longer take part.

Check the participation list below to see who is writing about what. Please take one of the banners and place it on your site to help promote the event. Finally, I hope you enjoy spending some time with Eleanor and her films.

Hi Maddy! It’s a terrific idea to remember Eleanor in this way who, as you so rightly said, is often overlooked these days.

I’d love to write about A MILLIONAIRE FOR CHRISTY (1951).

We’re getting by. Our daughter’s contract with the animation studio was renewed and she is working from home. Our son has a new support worker at the group home, and I think he’s in love! I’m monitored medically at dialysis. Hubby is a school bus driver and things are still touch and go regarding school in the fall.

I hope you and those you love are keeping well and sane.

The Naked Jungle is a film that has always stuck in my mind ever since I first watched it as a child. Have fun celebrating Eleanor Parker, I think the community spirit engendered by your blogathons is more important than ever, in the current climate.

    I love Eleanor Parker!

I would like to do two entries: Never Say Goodbye (1946) co-starring my love, Errol Flynn & The Very Thought of You (1944) which will also serve as my plea to Warner Brothers to release this film on DVD/Blu Ray.

    Dear Maddy,

I would love to join this blogathon about Eleanor Parker, a great actress I am just beginning to appreciate for more than her role in “The Sound of Music.” May I write about “Never Say Goodbye?”

By the way, I’d like to invite you to join my upcoming blogathon, the Joe Pasternak Blogathon (https://pureentertainmentpreservationsociety.wordpress.com/2020/08/21/announcing-the-joe-pasternak-blogathon/). It’s a celebration of the many wonderful films, particularly musicals, produced by Joe Pasternak during his long career. We would be honored if you could join. We could really use your talent!

    Yours Hopefully,

    Tiffany Brannan

Hi Maddy. Congratulations on receiving the CMBA award for best blogging event. I received one myself this year. I wasn’t expecting it at all.

Could you put me down for “Caged” ( 1950 ), if its still available for a second slot?? I’m going to start early – so I can get it done on time. I hate not showing for blogathons when I register.

My blog: In The Good Old Days Of Classic Hollywood.
